When a family books their family portraits with me, one of the locations I always suggest is the Hays Nature Preserve. Kids change so much, especially during the early years. That’s why so many families like to do annual family pictures. This family wanted to capture their daughter’s fun and sweet personality, and they wanted to create some memories of life as a family of three before becoming a family of four.

For most of my family and maternity sessions, outdoor, open-air environments are always my first choice. I love shooting in wide-open natural spaces because the light is divine, especially during golden hour. (I do things differently for babies to protect them from things like being too hot or cold, sunburn, and such with their delicate skin.)

I love to take some posed pictures during a family or maternity session, but I also love to capture you interacting as a family and enjoying each other. Your personalities and beauty should be the focus of the session. I want your photos to be natural and timeless.

My goal is simple: for your session to be as fun and stress-free as possible! At the end of the day, the location you choose and the outfits you wear won’t matter nearly as much as the fun we have together and the memories you make.

However, I sure do love the wide-open spaces at the Hays Nature preserve for your little ones to run around and for you to play together.

The bridge at the Hays Nature Preserve is another one of my favorite spots to take family and maternity pictures.

Even in late fall when most of the leaves have fallen, this location has stunning scenery.

The big swing is always a favorite with my clients. It’s perfect for family sessions and maternity sessions with baby’s older sibling(s).

I had the Best time capturing this family’s sweet and playful memories.

I would love to meet your family!
